Consumer Issues FAQs

Q. Do I have to produce a receipt to claim my rights?

A. No, in fact the trader does not have to give you a receipt in the first place. Provided you can produce some proof of purchase this should be sufficient.

Q. Must I accept a credit note instead of a refund?

A. It depends on why you want to return the goods. If you have simply changed your mind, the shop does not have to do anything. But, if the goods are faulty, incorrectly described or not fit for purpose, you are entitled to your money back, provided you act quickly.

Q. The goods I have purchase are faulty and neither repair nor replacement is possible, what can I do?

A. You may pursue a claim for damages or a partial or full refund. If you have enjoyed absolutely no benefit from the goods you would seek a full refund, but if you have benefited in some way you would seek a partial refund.
